Subzero. Zero. He would have remembered a name like that. There were thousands living in New Crystal City, but he felt sure he would have remembered that. He frowned softly when the mech himself confirmed it, but Dai Atlas had put up such protest when he'd brought Drift along. Why would he allow another outsider? Had his mind been changed?
Zero did something inside him and suddenly his pain was gone. Just like that. Gone. The jet's optics flickered and he went limp with a sigh. Primus have mercy on him, that felt wonderful. "Thank you."
After a moment, he looked back up at Zero again, lips curved in a hint of a smile that soon flatlined again as he drew on his last living memories. "Battle. We were fighting to protect the city against the slavers. The one on the cliff came for me. We fell on each other... Then he put his spear through me and I remember nothing."
It wasn't entirely true. He had memory of something that had happened to him after his demise, but he wasn't certain of what he'd seen then.
