Personality and Before the War: Wing is fiercely loyal to his people and to Cybertron, and throughout his life, he has tried to be an upstanding citizen and a protector of the weak. He is deeply religious, though privately so, and regularly holds rituals to worship Primus as creator of his race, and the Metrotitan who helps to sustain New Crystal City. He is also a spectralist and deliberately chose the color of his optics, though he can change it at will through an upgrade he purchased early in his career, though he does not use his knowledge to gauge others he meets. He often feels that it is his duty to lift others up when they fall on hard times, and he sees everyone Cybertronian as one and the same and deserving of a second chance.

It was through this that he sought to become a blacksmith with the intent to help develop and maintain weaponry needed to defend the planet from itself and from others who would harm them, and the tools needed to develop better lives for everyone. He found an interest in structural design and decoration, and on the side, he dabbled in architecture as a hobby.

He stood high in the social structure of his caste, but never quite managed to reach the top. His profession and his skill in it earned him wealth enough, and though he did partake in some of the activities and lessons of the upper class, he had no real interest in becoming one of them, especially when it became clear how the majority thought of the lower class. He was not blind to the state of those less fortunate and it disgusted him to see them that way, but instead of turning his back on them to jealously hoard his riches as some did, he set his mind to doing something about it.

Against the advice of some of his peers, he began working with his own resources with the help of a few like-minded friends to start small housing projects meant to shelter those who could not afford it. Dai Atlas later approached him and swore him in as a Knight of the Circle due to his efforts.

During the War: The war was going to tear their race apart and the elders of the Circle knew that before it ever began. Plans to try and preserve what remained of their society and their people and their culture were drawn up before the bombings and riots started the whole downhill decline. Wing had then been in the process of relocating some of the mechs from the shelters, but escaped harm.

The Circle remained on Cybertron as long as they could hold out to gather what could be saved, but were eventually forced to evacuate. They moved to neighboring planets, hoping the fighting would cease, but when it instead branched out beyond their home, the Circle moved again, following Dai Atlas’s orders, to a planet far beyond the attention of Autobot or Decepticon. There, they hoped to remain alone and in peace in the new world they would create.

Theophany and Drift: Dai Atlas was furious with Wing, as Wing had gone out against the Circle’s wishes to try and help the slaves and found Drift instead. But Wing was able to convince him to let Drift stay, under the condition that Drift would stay with Wing at all times to ensure their people would be safe. Knowing Drift would not agree to the terms lightly, Wing had to choose. Let Drift leave the city and know he would be killed trying to escape the planet or make him stay and bide his time with the Decepticon and give him a chance to see a peaceful society, to see what he would do then. In Wing’s mind, it was no decision at all, and he made Drift fight him for his freedom and knew Drift couldn’t win. He has always carried a terrible guilt over this choice, but he truly felt he had to hurt Drift to save him.

It was unfair, but Wing tried to use it to both of their advantages by coaching him, whether or not the advice would be accepted. When they were not dueling, Wing showed Drift the city and the sanctuary they had created for Cybertronians, regardless of their origins, hoping to sway Drift’s thoughts. Wing realized too late that he had fallen in love with Drift, but he kept those feelings to himself and has never wanted to confess. It would have been wrong of him to profess his love to someone who had never been given the option to say no. But he was proud to later fight beside Drift with his fellow Knights to save the city from the slavers, glad to know that Drift went with them willingly this time.

The Alternate Universe: Wing’s story follows the events of Drift’s focus comic until Wing is taken down by Braid. After he is killed in the fight for New Crystal City, his body was sealed in a gilded crypt to honor his sacrifice. The events that followed later in the comics with the Metrotitan trigger his revival - Ore was not the only one to be brought back to life by the titan. He managed to escape his crypt to find his injuries healed and the city in ruins, but was teleported away to worlds beyond shortly after. He now searches for a place to call home.
